On July 18 2021, Evil Geniuses, one of the world's oldest and most iconic esports organizations, announced a partnership with Wolverhampton Wanderers FC ("Wolves"), a founding member of the English Football League, combining the worlds of traditional sports and esports. In conjunction with the partnership, Fosun, which acquired Wolves in 2016, agreed to make a minority investment in Evil Geniuses, valuing the team at $255 million post-investment. Evil Geniuses became the first esports team with a physical presence in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Branding & Identity

For this project, we wanted to create a fun and interesting design while also sticking closely to the master brand of Evil Geniuses. These designs feature the same traditional elements and colors of EG while also consisting of the Genius League's fun collegiate elements and youthful energy.

Bridging the Digital and
Physical Pitch

The collaboration line was engineered as the central metaphor for the entire partnership, a literal visual bridge connecting two completely different worlds. The trajectory of the line symbolizes the crossover point where the digital velocity of esports intersects with the historic, physical grit of English football. It represents a shared borderline where cultures and passion collide, serving as the connective tissue that allowed two distinct fanbases to meet in the middle.

Apparel Design

To launch the partnership, we didn’t just want to drop merchandise, we wanted to drop a statement. The goal wasn't to reinvent the gear itself, but to establish how the co-branded elements and logo lockups lived in the physical world. To drive the launch home, I produced a hype video designed to instantly cement this new visual alliance in the minds of both fanbases.
